As someone who came of age at the turn of the millennium, hearing bands like Thrice and Rise Against scrape against the ceiling of indie success, I can't help but hear a similar crossover appeal in Gravity. Don't get it twisted: Black Spirit Crown has the hesher intensity of High On Fire and the murky melodicism of Monolord, but this seems like a band aspiring to more than Xeroxing the same old stoner-sludge riff-salad. Call 'em a gateway band if you must, but there's no denying the craft here.
